The Hammacher Schlemmer Institute commissioned an independent laboratory to test the most advanced air cleaners available, and this one was rated best for its cleaning effectiveness, ease of use, and low noise output. Unlike other models with filters that cannot remove air impurities smaller than 0.3 microns (recycling impurities back into the air), the three mechanical and electrostatic filters in this air cleaner capture 99.97% of 0.1 micron particles, including allergy provoking pollen grains, dust mites, mold spores, tobacco smoke, and pet dander particles, resulting in an average Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of 437.5, 28% higher than the next best cleaner tested.
